Iran firmly rejects Arab League’s claims on sovereignty over three Islands

Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Esmail Baghaei, strongly rejected the Arab League’s summit statement regarding the Iranian islands of Greater Tunb, Lesser Tunb, and Abu Musa, reaffirming that they are an inseparable part of Iran’s sovereign territory.

According to Mehr News Agency, Baghaei condemned the claims presented in the final statement of the Arab League Summit in Baghdad, emphasizing that such assertions contradict the fundamental principles of the United Nations Charter and international law. He stressed that respect for territorial integrity, national sovereignty, and the principle of good neighborliness must be upheld.

The spokesperson described any challenge to Iran’s sovereignty over these islands as unacceptable, urging the Arab League to acknowledge the historical and geographical realities that define the region. He further called on the organization to adopt constructive policies that promote mutual understanding and strengthen regional relations rather than fueling unnecessary disputes.
